Themes are packaged web design which can be installed on your CMS. The work has been done for you. Some themes have 'on the fly' color wheels allowing you to set coloring that best suits your needs.
But, let's say the free themes for the content management system doesn't fit your needs. Our CMS of choice is Drupal. Drupal allows you to build a 'sub-theme'. A 'sub-theme' uses a free theme as structure and allows you to make additional enhancements. Though, sub-themes can serve as a very powerful solution for your web design needs, it can involve many hours of design work. Still at a cost saving, none the less, a detailed process.
Our favorite solution.... Buy a theme! Purchased themes can range in the $70 price range. A steal!! And, done by a professional web designer, the web site is compatible across browsers and mobile phones. The structure or layout of a purchased theme is conducive for excellent search engine optimization. A well constructed theme functions from a commerce site to other business formats.
A purchased theme placed in the Drupal content management system creates a very powerful and attractive tool for your business.
